Abai Kunanbaev (1845-1904) Abai was a great Kazakh poet, musician, and a writer. He was born in Abai settlement near the city of Semey. He was from the rich family. His father Kunanbai was very strict person. But his mother Ulzhan and grandmother Zere were kind and warm-hearted. They were good story-tellers. They told little Abai a lot of interesting stories, tales and legends of Kazakh people. At the age of 9 Abai went to a religious school. When he was 13 he began to learn Russian school in Semey. He liked to read books of great Russian poets and writers…. He liked to read books written by Pushkin, Lermontov, Krylov. He was famous for with his Books of Words. During 15 years he translated more than 50 works of russian writers like Pushkin, Lermontov, Krylov etc.

Alexander Pushkin is one of the most outstanding Russian writer . He was the greatest Russian poet and writer. Pushkin devoted his life to writing poems. The young Alexander's first poems appeared when he was fifteen.Pushkin wrote a lot of poems and novels. Among his famous ones are: Eugenij Onegin, Ruslan and Lyudmila and others. Children like to read his fairy tales and watch wonderful cartoons based on them. When I was a child I read all the fairy tales by this talented poet. First my grandmother read them for me, but then when 1 learnt to read, I read his tales myself. Most of Pushkin's best works are studied at school. There is a statue to Pushkin in Moscow at Pushkin Square Young and old people gather by the statue, read poems and just meet friends. Pushkin is respected not only in Russia, but all over the world. His novels and poems have been translated into many languages and arc enjoyed by foreigners.

William Shakespeare was an English playwright. William Shakespeare — the English poet and the playwright, often is considered the greatest English- speaking writer and one of the best playwrights of the world. Often is called as the national poet of England. He produced thirty seven plays. He was connected with the best theatres in England for twenty five years.William Shakespeare wrote a lot of poetry. His sonnets have been published in many languages. His father wanted his son to be an educated person and William was sent to the local grammar school. At that time actors and actresses visited Stratford-on- Avon. William liked to watch them. He was fond of their profession and he decided to become an actor.He went to London. There he became an actor. He began to write plays too. Shakespeare was both an actor and a playwright. In his works Shakespeare described the most important and dramatic events in life. His plays were staged in many theatres, translated into many languages and they made Shakespeare a very popular man.
