Task 1. Read the text "Almaty is a home for many nationalities" The teacher divides the students into 3 groups; each group has the same number of students. Before reading the text, the teacher asks: (2min) What do you think this text is about? What nationalities do you know? What nationalities do you think live in Almaty? Teacher divides three paragraphs of text between students Students read the text (5min) After reading the text, each group asks each other questions (4min) After the discussion, the teacher asks What is the main idea of the text? Students answer (3min) Task 2. Listening (3min) Listen to people from six different countries. Work in pairs. Say what the languages are. After listening, each pair begins a dialogue (5 min) - I think it's Chinese - Why do you think so? I think it's Japanese -….. -….. Task 3. The board is first divided into two halves with chalk and the Teacher writes 2 countries on top. For example: France - England or Kazakhstan - Russia Students from each group must come up to the board one by one and write a word associated with that country. For example France: beautiful, French language, croissant, Eiffel Tower... The game improves students' vocabulary skills and enriches knowledge about countries |
