Put flashcards on the board. Say: This is my mummy. Ask a pupil to come to the board and point to the corresponding flashcards. Ask the rest of the class for verification. Repeat the activity with other pupils and flashcards.








Middle

30 mins









  1. Refer the pupils to the pictures and read the title of the text aloud. Point to the first picture and ask: What’s her name? Elicit: Her name is Danna. Then ask: What’s her daddy’s name? Elicit: Sultan. Repeat the procedure for the remaining pictures.

Play the CD. The pupils listen and point to the pictures. Play the CD again pausing after each sentence. The pupils repeat chorally/ or individually. Finally, ask individual pupils to read parts of the text aloud.

  1. Tell the pupils they will draw a picture of their friend’s family and write a short text.

Assessment (3 minutes)

Put up the flashcards on the board and ask the pupils to memorise the order in which they appear. Remove the flashcards and ask individual pupils to name them in the correct order.

Put the poster on the board. Point to it and ask: What country is it? Elicit: Kazakhstan! Ask pupils in L1, to name the capital of Kazakhstan (ASTANA) and find it on the poster.

  2. Play the CD. The pupils listen and point to the pictures. of their friend’s family and write a short text. Play the CD again pausing after each sentence. The pupils repeat chorally/ or individually.

Assessment (3 minutes)

Write MY Kazakhstan on the board. Ask the pupils to copy it in their notebooks or at the top of a piece of paper. Ask them to think of images that come to mind when they think of Kazakhstan and draw them.Display their work somewhere in the class. As an alternative, you can assing this as homework
