My lovely seasonWinter, spring, summer and autumn are the seasons of the year. December, January and February are the winter months. The weather is cold, usually it snows. The days are short and the nights are long. The rivers and lakes freeze and we can go skating and skiing. March, April and May are the spring months. It is a very nice season. The weather is fine, it is warm. There are many green trees in the streets in the parks and in the yards. Sometimes it rains but usually the sun shines brightly. The birds return from the hot countries and build their nests. June, July and August are the summer months. It is hot or warm. The days are long and the nights are short. There are many nice flowers in the parks and squares in the summer. The pupils do not go to school, they have summer holidays. June is the first month of summer. We have the longest day and the shortest night in the year on the 21st-22nd of June. July is the middle month of summer. It is hot and sun shines brightly. The sky is blue and cloudless. August is the last summer month sometimes it is cold in August, but there are many mushrooms, berries and fruits. September, October and November are autumn months. The weather is changeable. It often rains. You can see yellow, red, brown leaves everywhere. It is time to gather the harvest. My lovely season is spring. I like spring, because it is the time when nature awakes from long winter dream. March is also marked by the celebration of the International Women’s Day. On this day women don’t do any housework, they simply relax and enjoy the holiday. Their husbands, sons, fathers and brothers give them nice presents and do everything for them.April is a warm month. Although, it often rains, the weather is not cold anymore. On the first day of April we have the Fools’ Day. It’s a funny holiday, when your friends can play different tricks on you or tell jokes. Easter also falls on April. It’s one of my favorite holidays. I associate this day with tasty cakes and colorful eggs.May starts with the Labor Day or May Day. It’s an international workers’ day in many countries. On this day people hold ceremonial parades. The 9th of May is another remarkable day. It’s a Victory Day, which is celebrated to commemorate the Second World War victims and veterans. The weather in May is fantastic. Although, it sometimes rains, most of the time it is warm and sunny.Schoolchildren are taught that spring is the season between winter and summer when trees and begin to grow again. Spring is when the air gets warmer and the days get longer. Flowers come out, birds come back from warm countries and rivers become free of ice.
Schoolchildren know another important thing-when spring is here school holidays are here, too. So they will have their plans, of course. Everyone has a favorite time of year. Some people like spring time best of all. Spring is a very important time for farmers. First, when the weather is still not good enough, they must prepare everything for agricultural work. Then work in the fields comes find everybody is very busy. A good harvest begins in spring and all people understand it very well.When spring comes, people in cities and towns try to make all streets, parks and squares more beautiful and schoolchildren take an active part in spring cleaning.International Women’s Day, 8th of March , is a day of international solidarity of women. This holiday has a long history. In 1910 an international conference of women socialists decided to celebrate International Women is day every year. The first celebration in Russia was organized in 1913. Now in our country women are very active in industry, agriculture, political and cultural life. Children call International Woman is Day « Mother’s Holiday ».This day is celebrated both at home and at school. Schoolchildren prepare for their mothers presents made with their hands. Concerts are organized and beautiful invitation cards are sent to parents and teachers. When they come, they are greeted by one of the best pupils. The parents wish the children success and happiness and then a concert takes place.
