Lesson objectives:

All learners will be able to write 3-5 sentences using active vocabulary and modal verbs should, shouldn’t on theme «Healthy lifestyle»

More learners will be able to create a project work «Healthy lifestyle» in 6-8 sentences using modal verbs should, shouldn’t and active vocabulary

Some learners will be able to write an essay «I lead a healthy lifestyle» in 9-10 sentences using active vocabulary and modal verbs should, shouldn’t.

Assessment criteria:

Learners can write and activate modal verb should, shouldn’t and active vocabulary in the sentences on the theme «Healthy Lifestyle»

Activity 1. Questionnaire «Are you healthy?»

Learners answer to questionnaire «Are you healthy?» and put «one» for each «Yes»

Assessment: teacher’s praising words (Excellent! Good job! Great!)

Division into 2 groups with a help of pictures.

1st group: «Healthy food»

2nd group: «Healthy lifestyle»

Learners greet each other with applause.


Activity 1 «Divide into columns»

Learners fill in the chart «Doctor’s advice» with the columns should and shouldn’t by putting the given phrases.

Activity 2 Strategy of critical thinking «True, False»

Learners read the text and mark the sentences

Food for sport

Doing sports and physical activities is a great way to keep fit. It is also important to eat a healthy, balanced diet to provide your body with all the nutrients it needs. We all need energy. Foods with protein such as meat, fish and milk are an excellent source of energy. They help athlete’s muscles keep and bones strong in good shape. Water is the best drink for those who exercise. Remember to:

-Drink a lot of water before you start exercising and when you have finished.


1. Sports help you stay fit and healthy-T

2. Eating meat helps an athlete muscles-T

3. An athlete mustn’t drink a lot of water during exercise-F

4. Drinks that contain sugar can destroy teeth-F

Group -assessment: Learners receive for each correct answer one piece of the picture and after they glue all the received pieces of the picture. At the end should be «Pyramids of eating».
