loan words:
How the words which passed
from English into Russian are called? Loan words. Loan words are in
all languages because the people, communicating, “change words”.
Loan words in lexicon of Russian make 10% of all lexicons. Here
word history is where the station is. It appeared in the 18th
century. A certain lady by the name of Jane Vaux turned the estate
on the bank of the river of the Thames in vicinities of London into
a place of public amusements and constructed pavilion there, having
called its “Vauxhall” is “the hall of madam Vo”. By an example of
London “Vauxhall” the same gardens appeared and in other gardens of
Europe. At the end of the 19th century “Vauxhall” already meant “a
concert hall at railway station”. Such hall in Pavlovsk near St.
Petersburg began to be called the station. When the railway line
was constructed from St. Petersburg to Pavlovsk, a final stop
called the Station. Later other railway stations of Russia are also
continued to call so.
The word the clown came to us
too from English. So the clown in the English comedy was called.
The clown comes from Latin -kolonus – “villager”. Citizens
constantly laughed at naivety and awkwardness of
“bumpkin”.
The word – the hooligan - to all of us is well
known. But whether you know, what the Hooligan was an English
surname, but not the word?
In 1890 in London there lived
a person by the name of the Hooligan. He behaved so badly that soon
all in London knew it and spoke about it. When someone started
behaving badly, people spoke, - “He behaves as the Hooligan”. Thus,
the new word was born. It can be found not only in English and
