English folk tales have their own characteristics:
First, English folk tales are very similar one to another.
Most often the main character goes to seek happiness in the world, or goes to fight
with the giants. In this case, the hero rarely seek to achieve success, defeat the
enemy and take possession of his wealth. The main motive in the actions of a fairy-
tale character is not to become famous and become stronger and wiser, but to
avoid failure, failure.
Secondly, in an English fairy tale, a situation is usually described, some
information is given, or facts are ascertained.
The narrative is usually even, there are no special splashes, and unexpected twists
of the plot. Fairy tales do not always have a good ending. Sometimes they are even
cruel. For example, in the fairy tale "Magic Ointment," the main heroine, Aunt
Goody, got into the eye from the demon-buff and "remained a curve until her
death." In truth, fairy tales are more like sad stories.
The reason for this can be the excessive restraint of the English. People restrained
their feelings and emotions, even when retelling fairy tales

Во-первых, английские народные сказки очень похожи одна на другую.
Чаще всего главный герой отправляется искать счастье по свету, либо идет
бороться с великанами. При этом, герой редко стремятся достичь успехов,
победить противника и завладеть его богатством. Главный мотив в
поступках сказочного персонажа - не прославиться и стать сильнее и мудрее,
а избежать неудачи, провала.
Во-вторых, в английской сказке обычно описывается какая-то ситуация,
дается какая-то информация, или констатируются факты.
Повествование обычно ровное, отсутствуют особенные всплески, и
неожиданные повороты сюжета. Сказки не всегда имеют хороший конец.

Fairy tales are one of the richest and most vivid forms of folk art. A
fairy tale - eternally seeking the truth and justice, love and
happiness of the soul of the people, embodied in the word.
Any inner movement of a fairy tale, any of its heroes, any word in
the sentence, was weighed and verified many times before becoming
as we see them now.
There is nothing superfluous in a fairy tale. Everything is in its
necessary, precisely fitting place. And so the fairy tale is eternal.
