Everything is made from some different elements joined
together different ways. There are about 90 elements found
on Earth. Most of the elements are metals. But about a
quarter of all the elements in nature are not metals. We call
them non-metals.
Non-metals are a very mixed bunch! As you can see, non-
metals are very different from each other. For example, some
are solids, one is a liquid and some are gases.

The biggest difference between metals and non- metals is that most
