Childhood

Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. His parents divorced while he was young. When Barack’s mom remarried, they moved to Indonesia. He has one half-sister, Maya.

Barack later returned to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. Barack finished school and went on to college. He attended Columbia University. Then he studied at Harvard Law School.

Presidency

Barack Obama won the 2008 presidential election. He was nominated by the Democratic party. He is the first African American man to become President of the United States. He is also the first president to be born in Hawaii. One major issue he is dealing with is the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The cost of healthcare is another concern of his. President Obama is also trying to help boost our nation’s economy during the recession.
