Why is sleep important?

The procedure of the lesson:

T: Good morning, dear children! Sit down! Who is on duty today? What date is it today? Who is absent today?

How are you? What’s the weather like today? What is sleep? Why do people sleep?

The theme of our lesson is “Why is sleep important?”. Today we are going to read texts and talk about the importance of sleep and about the causes of sleeplessness.

Open your books on page 57 and read the information in the box.

Ex. 1 p. 58 Now discuss the questions.

Ex. 2 p. 58 Jigsaw reading. Divide into three groups and read the texts. Write out the new words. Now make some notes and choose the speaker. The speaker of the group should go to another group and retell his text.

Ex. 3 p. 59 Answer the questions to the texts.

Ex. 5 p. 59 Using the three texts write all the problems that insomnia can cause.

Ex. 6 p. 59 Write the words and practice the pronunciation.

Ex. 7 p. 59 Divide the words into nouns, verbs and adjectives.

Example: relationship – noun

Ex. 8 p. 60 Match the words with their definitions.

Example: to measure – to find size, amount.

Ex. 10 p. 60 Read the unfinished story. In groups of 3 think over about the end of the story. Tell it to the class.
