Explanatory note

English club is a place for language learners to use English in a casual setting. Practicing your skills in the classroom is important. In the classroom teacher often focuses on one skill and one item (for example: grammar –future tense). After learning the rules she gives students time to practice using the item.

Will students remember how to use the skills next year? In English club students get a chance to practise many different 21^st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity. That is the actuality of the club. It is a great way to make new friends to feel comfortable using English around people you trust and have fun with.

Directed to: linguistic project work

Actuality: Its new approach to prepare young learners for today’s digital and globalised world, where English is commonly used as the medium of communication when travelling, studying, working or browsing the internet.

Novelty: this work will help teachers with a planning summer English clubs, and will give opportunity to immerse students into language atmosphere; teachers will increase students’ interests by engaging them through CLIL lessons and develop their creative skills by STEM technology.

Pedagogical aim:  to choose methods and forms of pupils’ learning activity organization which correspond of given goal of the development of the personality optimally

Aim: children will be able to discover fascinating things about the world around them and practise speaking, reading, writing and listening in a dynamic way, they’ll also learn essential skills for 21st century life.

Objectives:

• to provide encouraging atmosphere for students to express personal views,

• enhance students’ learning opportunities

• engage them in cooperative tasks

• create a comfortable environment, not to be afraid of mistakes

Peculiarity: Why this Club? The club will be based on communicatively authentic material, as much as possible, and this includes:

• Group reading and discussion

• Film reviews and discussions

• TV group watching

• Listening comprehension and discussion

The results:

• Developing students’ critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity;

• Students feel confident at study;

• Students start thinking in English to express their thoughts and understand what they read and hear.
