Distance learning
Distance learning is when a child doesn’t go to school, but studies at home on his own or with the help of a tutor. It may be because of his health, or because his family travels a lot or for some other reasons. There are of course advantages of such learning – you can get concentrated on what you read and study, you have as much time as you need to understand the material. But on the other hand school is not only about studying, it’s about communication with other people, it’s finding your place in the society, getting friends, learning how to behave in public and so on. So I think that if it is possible a child should go to school.
The learning environment is identified by many authors as a Learning management systemLMS, as a Virtual learning environment-VLE or even a system knowledge management system-KMS), although not everyone agrees with this not everyone agrees with this approach. However, it is clear that all these terms overlap and partially overlap in some way. In the transition of higher education institutions to online learning there are many The need to create an e-learning infrastructure, to train
Instructors, as well as the development or purchase of software, solving the problem of choosing the number of online courses as a percentage of face-to-face learning. If the applications are developed by the institution itself, then It is necessary to create a competent group specialists of different profiles, which not all universities and colleges can do. Important issues for any educational institution that has made the decision to use online courses are as follows:
- Whether online education is critical to the institution in terms of
In terms of long-term strategy;
- What percentage of annual enrollment
Of students enrolled in online education, whether it is growing
Compared to each previous year;
- whether online learning is having an impact on academic performance;
- whether faculty acceptance of online instruction is increasing;
- What are the barriers to widespread adoption of
Online teaching methods and courses;
- Whether faculty members are required to take more
Time and effort to teach students online compared to traditional teaching?It should be noted that in the U.S., many institutions are adopting and using
Online learning, and are carefully researching all of its outputs and outcomes. For example, Babson College, whose partners include Pearson company (a market-leading business in education and Business Information, which publishes digital educational materials), Kaplan University (a leading university in terms of using and promoting innovative learning methods), Sloan Consortium (an institutional and professional leader dedicated to integrating online education into higher education).
Babson College formed the Babson Survey Research Group Research Group, researching all the issuesrelated to online learning at their college and in the U.S. as a whole, and publishing reports on online learning outcomes at institutions in this country, which provide all the necessary statistical data. For example, in 2013 the report «Changing Course. Ten Years of Tracking Education in the United States.» In parallel with the development of online learning.

Distance education also has another meaning. When we go to university or want to start some advanced courses there is an option to have distance learning. The advantage of such learning is that you can study in another country without leaving your own one. It gives you more freedom in your schedule – you don’t have to attend lessons, so one can combine studying and working. Distant learning gives you a chance to have a certificate in any field that you like and choose education you want.

So I suppose sometimes distant learning can be a good option, but of course everyone chooses what is better for him.
