Warm-up (5 minutes) Teacher shows 2–3 pictures (rain, exam, alarm clock). Ask: “What will you do if it rains today?” “What will happen if you don’t do your homework?” Elicit simple predictions and introduce today’s topic. B. Presentation (10 minutes) Write on the board: If it rains, I will take an umbrella. I will be late if I miss the bus. Ask students to identify: Which clause has IF + Present Simple Which clause has WILL + base verb Explain structure: ✔ If + present simple, will + verb ✔ Comma is optional ✔ Meaning: real, possible future situations Provide more examples and check comprehension. C. Practice (Controlled) (10 minutes) Exercise 1 – Gap-fill Students complete sentences: If I … (study), I will pass the exam. If he is late, we … (start) without him. If they … (not rain), we will go to the park. Exercise 2 – Match Match the halves of First Conditional sentences: If you eat too much → … If you don’t water plants → … If she finishes early → … D. Communicative Practice (10 minutes) Activity: “Find Someone Who…” Students walk around asking classmates First Conditional questions, e.g.: “What will you do if you get a bad grade?” “What will you buy if you win money?” Students record answers. OR Pair Work Dialogue: Each pair completes a small dialogue using First Conditional: A: If we finish our homework early… B: We will watch a movie. And if we don’t finish… A: We won’t go anywhere. E. Production (Free Practice) (7 minutes) Mini-writing task: Students write 5 sentences about their real-life situations using First Conditional: If my friend comes over, … If I have time, … If my parents allow me, … Teacher checks and provides feedback. |
