Charles Dickens –
Biography
Charles
Dickens was a famous English writer. He was born on 7 February 1812
in Portsmouth, England. His family was poor, and when he was
twelve, he had to work in a factory because his father was in
prison for debt. This difficult childhood later influenced his
writing.
Dickens
did not have much formal education, but he loved reading and
writing. He started his career as a journalist and became famous
after publishing The Pickwick Papers. He wrote many popular novels about social
problems and the lives of poor people in Victorian
England.
Some of
his most famous books are Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, and David Copperfield. His stories are still popular today
because they are emotional, realistic, and full of interesting
characters. Charles Dickens died on 9 June 1870, but he remains one
of the greatest English writers.
