Activity 1. Conveying the meaning of new words. Listen, point and say

Stick the flashcards for the lesson on the board, demonstrate their meanings by miming and encourage Ss to guess their meanings and repeat a few times after you: Professions: chef, taxi driver, astronaut Nouns: farm, spaceship, sleeping bag, cow Verb: drive

Alternatively, hold up each flashcard, say the corresponding word/phrase and repeat.

For Ss with special needs: Visual aids.

New words:

Activity 2. Read the title and look at the pictures. What do the three people do? Then listen and read

• Direct students’ attention to the pictures and read the title aloud.

• Ask: “What do you think these people do?”

• Play the recording once. Ask students to listen and point to the correct person as they hear the information.

• Play the recording a second time and ask students to shadow read — that is, read along with the audio.

• Play the audio a third time, pausing after each sentence. Have students repeat after you for pronunciation practice.

• Ask comprehension questions to check understanding:

1. Does Zhaniya work at a restaurant?

2. What time does Maksat get up?

3. Where does Tom sleep? (Continue with other relevant questions.)

Choose a few students to read the short texts aloud to practice fluency.

For Ss with special needs: Teacher allows paired reading with a supportive peer or teacher.

Activity 3. Read activity 2 again and write Yes or No.

• Draw Ss’ attention to the activity and explain that they have to read the sentences and write Yes or No according to the texts in activity 2.

• Have Ss check their answers in pairs first, then as a class

Grammar Box: The Present Simple: Negative. Plural nouns

No “-s” on the verb after don’t/doesn’t! Correct: He doesn’t cook. ❌ Wrong: He doesn’t cooks.

Plural Nouns:

Most plural nouns just add “-s” or “-es”. Some change completely!

Activity 5. Write the sentences in the negative

• Explain to Ss that they have to write the sentences in the negative form.

• Have Ss compare their answers in pairs first, then check as a class.

For Ss with special needs: Provide sentence frames to guide them
