Extension Activity (Optional) • For stronger classes: In groups, the pupils act out the dialogue from the story. Allow them some time to rehearse their dialogues. Invite some groups to come to the front of the classroom and act out their dialogues. Provide any necessary help. • For weaker classes: Hand out the photocopies of the story cards, one set per pupil. Ask the pupils to colour them in. Play the audio with pauses.
Make a town. Play the Around town game. To consolidate places and location through craftwork and a game. Explain the craftwork. Ask the pupils to take out the empty milk cartons you have asked them to bring in from the previous lesson. The pupils decide on the places they want to make, then colour and label their milk cartons so that they look like those places. Alternatively, the pupils draw places/buildings on sheets of paper. Play the Around town game. Divide the class into two teams. The pupils from Team A stand next to, between and opposite each other and hold up their craftwork. A pupil from Team B looks at them and closes their eyes. Team A asks, e.g. Where’s the cinema? A pupil from Team B answers, e.g. It’s next to the café. Then the teams swap roles and the game continues. Each correct answer gets one point. The team with the most points wins the game. |

There’s a fire station next to the supermarket. etc Make sure you display the pupils’ work somewhere in the classroom. |
