“MY BONNIE LIES OVER THE OCEAN.”

One of the most famous Scottish songs, known all over the world is a song about

Prince Charles Edward Steward. He was known as Bonnie Prince Charlie because he was young and good-looking (“ bonnie” means good-looking). He was also Scotland’s national hero who fought against the English in the 18th century trying to make Scotland independent, but Charlie’s army was defeated.

I

My Bonnie lies over the ocean,

My Bonnie lies over the sea,

My Bonnie lies over the ocean,

Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me.

Chorus: Bring back, bring back-

Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me.

Bring back, bring back,

Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me.

II

Last night as I lay on my pillow,

Last night as I lay on my bed,

Last night as I lay on my pillow,

I dreamed that my Bonnie was dead.

Chorus.

III

Oh, blow you winds over the ocean,

Oh, blow you winds over the sea,

Oh, blow you winds over the ocean,

And bring back my Bonnie to me.

Chorus.

IV

The winds have blown over the ocean,

The winds have blown over the sea,

The winds have blown over the ocean,

And brought my Bonnie to me.

“CLEMENTINE”

I

In a cavern in a canyon

Excavating for a mine

Lived a miner forty-niner

And his daughter Clementine.

Chorus: Oh my darling, oh my darling,

Oh my darling, Clementine,

You were lost and gone forever

Dreadful sorry, Clementine.

II

Light she was and like a feather

And her shoes were number nine

Herring boxes without topses

Sandals were for Clementine.

Chorus.

III

Drove she ducklings to the water

Every morning just at nine

Hit her foot against a splinter

Fell into the foaming brine.

Chorus.

IV

Ruby lips above the water

Blowing bubbles soft and fine

But alas I was no swimmer

So I lost my Clementine.

Chorus.

“HOLIDAY ADVENTURE”

I

The holidays started badly

When we all caught the flu.

But then things got exciting

When we started finding clues.

II

The first clue was the number

Of the thieves` blue car.

The second was directions

To a house that wasn’t far.

III

The third clue was a puzzle

About a hidden key.

The fourth clue was a phone call

From one of the thieves.

IV

The fifth clue was an e-mail

About a meeting place.

The last clue was Morse Code –

The end of our long chase!

V

The holidays started badly

But ended really well.

We had a great adventure

With lots of tales to tell.

“Friends”

I

My friend Annie

Is taller than me.

My friend Pete

Has got bigger feet.

Chorus

Bigger or smaller,

Shorter or taller,

Thinner or fatter,

It doesn’t matter.

II

My friend Rose

Has got a shorter nose.

My friend Peg

Has got longer legs.

Chorus

III

After all,

In the end,

There’s nothing better

Than a friend!

Chorus
