• Ask students to open their books at page 74 and look at the photos.

Read out the two questions and then put students into pairs to answer them.

Ask a few students to report back to the class their ideas, but do not confirm their ideas yet.

• Tell students they are going to read an article about New Orleans and the hurricane that affected it in 2005.

Play the recording for students to check their answers to Exercise 1.

Ask students to read the article again. Allow weaker students to use dictionaries to check meaning of new words from the text.

Put students into pairs to answer the questions about the article.
