Safety measurements in the chemistry room

Students are not allowed to enter or to work in a laboratory without teacher’s permission.

Students have to get introduced with the work to be done and to know about the properties of the substances and to know the usage of each devices.

To know beforehand the place of stuff which supply the safety: the box of the first aid kids, fire extinguisher, a rinser to clean the eyes, a cover and sand to extinguish fire, the stuff to keep from bleeding, iodine solution and etc;

Students have to wear a special uniform, safety glasses with respiratory masks gloves and a covered boots;

To put away all unnecessary stuff like books and other things;

To check the name of the substances twice before using;

Do not taste or touché any unfamiliar substance. If it is necessary to try the smell of the unknown reactive it is better to put far from your nose and direct the steam of the air with the help of your hands towards you. Ask your teacher to show you if you don’t know.

Do not direct the open beaker to the other person or look at it.

Do not use the beaker where the remnants from reactive are left. Use only clean beakers instead.

Take only the necessary amount of substances. Do not waste them.

Be careful while working with acids or alkali! In case of damaging either your clothes or body part with the reactive rinse it under the stream of the running water.

Rinse the area of the burned skin under the running water for a while. Then you will be provided a necessary medical care.

Keep silent in the laboratory not to disturb other students.

Do not touch or use any unfamiliar stuff without your teacher’s permission.

Put away into their places all the beakers and reactive and alcohol burner after using them.

Make sure you have turned off the light and switched off the gas and other appliances.

Electric heaters alcohol burners need special needs to proceed. Ask your teachers or laboratory assistant for help to use them.

If you are not sure ask your teacher for help.
