When my family plans a holiday, there is always a lot to do at home before we leave. We start by tidying our rooms. I put my clothes in the wardrobe and my books back on the bookcase. My brother makes his bed and clears the table in the dining room. My parents take out the rubbish, vacuum the living room, and clean the floor in the kitchen.

After the house is tidy, we pack our suitcases. In the bedroom, we take clothes from the chest of drawers and fold them neatly. My dad always checks the bathroom to make sure we have towels, toothbrushes, and soap. My mom prepares snacks in the kitchen using the microwave.

Before we leave, we do the washing-up and make sure the washing machine is empty. Then we check that all the lights, like the lamp in the living room, are turned off. Finally, we take the dog for a walk and lock the door. Holidays are fun, but getting ready takes a lot of work!
