The theme of the lesson: Unit 9 Step 1 Groups

The aims of the lesson:

• Educational: to study the names of different groups, using the + - ing

form after certain verbs and after prepositions, to describe your likes and dislikes.

• Developing aims: to develop SS’s speaking, reading, auding abilities on the theme, to get information while reading the questionnaire

• Bringing – up: to develop SS’s word – stock, to talk about being in a group.

Grammar: Verbs / preposition + - ing form

Rule: When the verbs enjoy, can’t stand, don’t/ doesn’t mind are followed

by another verb, we use the – ing form of the second verb, and we usually

do the same after like, love, hate, prefer.

1. She can’t stand cooking.

2. He likes collecting coins.

3. I don’t mind spending time on my own.

We use the – ing form after preposition and after certain verbs.

1. I’m good at solving crosswords.

2. I’m interested in travelling.

We use to + verb after want, would like, would love, would hate.
