Draw Ss’ attention to the underlined sentences. Explain what fact (sth that is true), and opinion (what sb thinks) mean. Give Ss time to read the email and then elicit which sentences express fact/opinion ] Task 1. Bread the email. Look at the underlined sentences. Which express a fact? An opinion? Hello Becky, I hope you’re well. My school is in the centre of town, next to the railway station. I live close to my school, so I walk there every morning. It has 6 floors and each floor has 5 classrooms. I’m in class 7 B, which is in the second floor. In my class, there 28 students but the room is big and spacious so it’s OK. I really like my classroom. There is a large blackboard at the front of the class, and on either side, there are two doors and three windows. In the middle there are two rows of decks and chairs for the students. There is also a big deck and a chair for teacher, and a bookcase with lots of books. The walls are white with maps and pictures on them. What is your classroom? Write back Nurziya. |

Main Activities 6.1.3.1
6.1.1.1
|
Go through the Study Skills box showing Ss some types of punctuation in English and drawing attention to any differences to Ss’ L1. Sscan give examples of their own.
A Study skills! (Punctuation) We use a full stop (.) after affirmative and negative sentences. I’m Italian. I’m not French. We use a question mark (?) after interrogative sentences. Are you in class 6C? We use comma (,) to separate a list of items. My favorite subject are Science, Maths and Geography. Sentences expressing strong fillings end with a exclamation mark (!). I like it a lot!
Task 2. Punctuate these sentences.
Tell Ss that they are going to use their answers fromEx. 3 to write a reply to the email that Nurziya sent. Ss can complete the task in class, or you can assignit as HW and check Ss’ answers in the next lesson
Tell Ss to make notes under the headings to helpthem before they start writing. Remind Ss to follow the plan and be careful with punctuation. Write a reply to Nurziya’s email. Tell her about your classroom. Think about: location of classroom, number of students, items in the classroom (60 words). Be careful with punctuation. Follow the plan:
