The Great Romantic.
Lord Byron (1788-1824) didn’t live a long life. He was an aristocrat and a fashionable man. But he loved freedom and a simple country life. His personality attractedt Britaint and all Europe. He brought to his poetry romanticism of his times. He was talented and handsome, noble and brave. London admired him.
George Gordon Byron was born on January 22nd , 1788. He was the san of John Byron and his wife, Catherine, whose ancestors were of the royal house of Stuart. He spent his early years outside the capital. He lived in the north. Later his mother took him to Aberdeen Grammar School and there is a monument to him outside the school. Now it is a museum and art gallery. Later he studied at Harrow School and the University of Cambridge.
When Byron was 19, he came to London. One day the poet wrote, YI woke up and found myself famous. It happened after the publication of his autobiographic poem YChilde Harold in 1812.
The fact is that from 1809 to 1811 he had travelled in different parts of Europe and in the poem he described everything that had happened to him, In the summer of 1816 Byron left Britain forever. He ravelled around Europe and soon he became a member of the Greek liberation movement, for which he died. But he did not lead the Greeks in battle as he wished. He died of fever.

Sharks
There are many species of sharks found in the oceans around the world. Some of them are very big while others are quite small. Some of them are to be feared while others mind their own business and they are very calm. You may be surprised to learn some of the largest species of sharks in the ocean are the nicest ones to encounter. This information will help you identify some of the common species of sharks. There are 440 different species of sharks in the world today classified into eight different orders described below with some examples of known sharks species for each group. One of the most types of sharks there are known as angel sharks. Many people mistake them for some other types of sea creature. It isn’t uncommon for them to be thought of as large stingrays. But the simplest way to tell them apart is by looking at the location of the fins. On the angel shark, they won't be on the head.
This type of shark isn’t a meat eater. Instead it focuses on what it can find along the bottom of the ocean. Clams and mollusks often are a big part of their overall diet. The coloring of angel sharks allow them to blend in well with the bottom of the ocean though so they often go undetected.

№1 Carnival
Notting Hill Carnival - Europe's biggest
When, in 1964, members of a Trinidadian steel band were invited to take part in a street festival in Notting Hill, in the west of London, none of them realised that they were going to give birth to Europe's greatest street carnival.
There had been racial tension in Britain in the late 1950's, and the Black people who had come over from the West Indies to work in London found it hard to mix with Londoners.
As a way of breaking the ice, the idea of a street festival was suggested; street festivals being popular events on the Caribbean islands, the original organisers suggested that the sight and sound of a Trinidadian steel band playing on the streets of Notting Hill would encourage local residents, both black and white, to come out on the street and enjoy themselves for an afternoon.
The first festival was an immediate success; once the black people of Notting Hill heard the music of the steel band, they came out into the street to dance and enjoy themselves as they might have done back home in the West Indies; attracted by the unusual and rhythmic sound of the steel band, others too came along to share in the experience. In short, the first festival was such a big success that the organisers decided to organise another one the following year.
Since then, the Notting Hill Carnival has evolved into a huge multi-cultural arts festival, attended by up to two million people; besides being the annual high point of London's Afro-Caribbean community, it now attracts hundreds of thousands of people from all over Britain and other countries, and has become the world's second biggest carnival

№ 1 Text Silicon Valley
It is not made of silicon; and
it is not a river valley; but forgetting that, Silicon Valley is
probably the most famous valley in the world. Although it is not
the place where the first computer was built (that was Manchester,
England), Silicon Valley, near San Francisco, was the
birthplace of the modern computer industry.
For this, we can say thankyou to scientists at the
universities in California, and to the Hippies of the 1960's.
It was in the nineteen-sixties that
American "youth culture" really began. California, of
course, already existed; but the Sixties Generation rediscovered
it.
At the time there were really two different forms
of youth culture; the "Beach Boy" culture on the one
hand, and the anti-establishment hippies
and radical students on the other hand; and they all
dreamed of California.
For the Beach Boys, that meant southern California, where they
could sing about surfing and cars; for the Hippies and radicals, it
meant San Francisco, "flower power" and revolutionary new ideas.
The campuses at Berkeley and Stanford University, near San
Francisco, were hot-beds of new ideas, new technology, new culture,
and new ways of living.
When they finished university, many of the best students did not
look for jobs with big companies like Ford or Exxon. Instead they
wanted to be free and run their own operations.... and
stay in California, not far from San Francisco. Silicon Valley is
thus a group of small towns, including Palo Alto and San
José, a few miles south of San
Francisco.
Today, young people from all over come to Silicon Valley to learn about computers.
The high-technology industry
was already present around San Francisco. Intel had been founded in
1968, and in the same year the first computer mouse was built at
Stamford University. In 1970, Xerox opened a research center in
Palo Alto. There were also other electronics companies, like
Hewlett Packard, and Fairchild, the world's first "semiconductor"
company.
Then, in 1976, an electronics student called Steve Jobs started a
small computer company in his garage; he gave it the same
name as the Beatles' record company: Apple.
Very soon, more companies, like Seagate and Google
appeared. "Silicon Valley" had arrived. There was even a sort of
primitive Internet connecting many addresses in Silicon Valley,
called the Arpanet.
Today, Silicon Valley is still the home of the computer industry;
it is still full of high technology, but it is not the only center
for high-tech in the USA. Today here are computer firms all
over the USA.... and all over the world; but Silicon Valley still
has the largest concentration of high-tech companies and research
centers.
Microsoft, the world's biggest high-tech company, is not based in
Silicon Valley. It is further north, near Seattle in the state of
Washington
