1^st group: Ex7c p.101 Find the words or phrases in the text on page 100 which mean:

1. a story that might, or might not, be true - legend; 2. things that exist in a place and that people can use – resources; 3. wanting a lot more (food/ money) than you need – greedy; 4. the highest points (of mountains) – peaks; 5. amazing, wonderful – fabulous; 6. people who lead countries – rulers;

2^nd group: Ex 7d p.101 Use one of the words / phrases from ex7c to complete each sentence.

2. Her new dress must be very expensive- it looks fabulous! 3. A king called “Yikin Chan Kawiil” was one of the Mayan rulers of Tikal in the past. 4. This country has got oil, minerals, forests-lots of natural resources. 5. He wasn’t hungry, but he ate everything on the table. He’s very greedy!

3^rd group: Ex8a p.101 Read the story and match it with one of the pictures.

2. What does El Dorado mean nowadays? A place where you can get rich quickly.

3. Why were the people of Atlantis rich? Due to the natural resources on their island.

4. In what ways did the people of Atlantis change? They became greedy and wanted power.

5. How was Atlantis destroyed? It was swallowed by the sea.

6. What do people say about Shambhala and the people who live there? The city is inhabited by beautiful people who live in fabulous houses and there is no war.

7. What do some people think will happen in 2424? A huge army will come out of Shambhala, destroy the worlds bad rulers and start a new Golden Age.
