• In pairs, students discuss the question and think of two reasons to support their favourite way to travel

Exercise 1

• Draw students’ attention to the table and to the words in the box. Explain the task.

• Students check their answers in pairs. Check answers as a class.

• Students do the activity in pairs and check answers as a class.

• Draw students’ attention to the different questions and allow them time to read them by themselves. Check for understanding, especially in a weaker class.

• Divide students into small pairs or groups. Allow them some time to think about each question and what they are going to say. Encourage them to make a note of key words that will help them remember what they want to talk about.

• When students are ready, they discuss the questions. Circulate and monitor, helping where necessary with vocabulary or ideas. Put any new vocabulary on the board for all the class to see.

• Round off the activity by having a vote on what the class thinks is (a) the scariest form of transport, (b) the safest form of transport and (c) the most comfortable form of transport.
