The subtraction of numbers can be defined in terms of
addition:
a-b=a+(-b)=c
Thus, in order to subtract b from a it is necessary to add the
negative of b to a. This means that addition and subtraction
are inverse operation to each other.
One can easily check whether the result of the subtraction
is true. Indeed, by the definition, the difference a-b is the
number c that by which the number b is added to produce a:
c=a-b a= b+c
