This story took place at the time when the

met at an inn in London. These people wanted
to go to the town of Canter bury to worship
Thomas Becket, a saint and a martyr. Thomas
Becket, also known as Saint Thomas of
Canterbury, was Archbishop of
Canterbury from 1162 until his murder in
1170.
