The National Children's Book Festival is a unique event in Bulgaria's culture life. Exercise 1 • Focus students’ attention on the words in the box. If you have done the warm-up activity, they will already be familiar with country, town, city and village. • In a weaker class, ask students to work in pairs, using page 77 of the Workbook to help them. In a stronger class, encourage students to complete the lists by themselves. answers. Look at the photos and ask students to identify words from exercise 1 (people, baby, city, village, house). • Check answers as a class. Do any of the facts surprise them? What is the most interesting fact? answers. 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a 5 b 6 b 7 a LANGUAGE NOTE Regular plurals are simply formed by adding -s. However, if the singular noun ends in -ch, -sh, -ss or -x, then we add -es to make the plural form, e.g. beaches, bushes, bosses, boxes. With singular nouns ending in a consonant + -y, we change the -y to -ies, e.g. babies, countries. All other irregular forms must be learnt. Exercise 3 answers.
