My wife wants a new bucket,” said the fisherman. “You can have your wish. Go home now,” said the fish and swam away. The fisherman went home and saw a new bucket, but his wife was still angry. The National Children's Book Festival is a unique event in Bulgaria's culture life. It is the only forum in Bulgaria which gives an opportunity to all Bulgarian and foreign participants in the process of creating and distributing children's books – writers, publishers, illustrators, book distributors, teachers, psychologists, library specialists, etc., to meet each other and to discuss the present state and future state of children's books publishing, to outline new directions and forms for increasing children's interest in books and reading, coming into a competition with the new multimedia products.

The National Children's Book Festival is the natural place for the expression of potential of all young talents that through words, drawings, and the magic of songs and beauty of dance made their first messages as artists.

The program of the festival every year includes: book bazaars, promotions of writers and publishing companies, literary duels and competitions, discussions on problems of books for children, exhibitions, performances, concerts, carnival processions, etc.

• Focus students’ attention on the words in the box. If you have done the warm-up activity, they will already be familiar with country, town, city and village.

• In a weaker class, ask students to work in pairs, using page 77 of the Workbook to help them. In a stronger class, encourage students to complete the lists by themselves.

answers.

Places: city, house, town, village

People: child, family, man, person, woman

Exercise 2 CD 1.29

• Refer students to the quiz on page 27. Look at the photos and ask students to identify words from exercise 1 (people, baby, city, village, house).

• Check answers as a class. Do any of the facts surprise them? What is the most interesting fact?

answers.

1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a 5 b 6 b 7 a

LANGUAGE NOTE Regular plurals are simply formed by adding -s. However, if the singular noun ends in -ch, -sh, -ss or -x, then we add -es to make the plural form, e.g. beaches, bushes, bosses, boxes. With singular nouns ending in a consonant + -y, we change the -y to -ies, e.g. babies, countries. All other irregular forms must be learnt.
