“Dara Oscar-2020” movie awards ceremony was held in the frames of English language week in “Dara” Business academy school-lyceum.

The event pursued several objectives:

• to improve intonationand pronunciation skills of students by widely known technique of “shadowing” which means to repeat native speaker’s speech by imitating the same manner and intonation;

• to overcome camera fear;

• to master video editing skills;

The students of secondary school from fifth to eighth grades were given four different famous movies and one cartoon extracts (2-4 min) to act out: “Zootopia” for fifth graders, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone” for sixth graders, “Avengers” for 7^th graders, “The Great Gatsby” for 8^th graders. As the result, the winners in the next nominations were identified:

• The best actress/The best actor

• The best creative work

• The best pronunciation

• The best supporting actress/ The best supporting actor

• The best camera work

• The best movie

We also wanted students to feel the atmosphere of the great event, as they were the superstars of the evening, that’s why we welcomed them as real movie stars with Red carpet ceremony, camera flash lights and reporters on it! Every time when the winner was announced the main theme OST of that movie were played in order to keep the real Oscar ceremony atmosphere. To entertain our guests between the rewards interesting quiz games (“Guess the movie (showing pictures from movies)”, “OST freak (guess the soundtrack from the movie ”, “Flash movie quiz”) on movies were played.

Hello dear artists!

Aizhan: We are glad to welcome you to the first film festival in our school "DARA Oscar 2020". The right to open the festival is given to (administration)

Kymbat: To give significance to our film festival, we have invited and are happy to welcome guests, stars of world cinema: 5A, 5D, 6B, 6C, 7B, 8A, 8B (Приветствуем каждого, хлопаем)

As you know, you were given to act out the scenes from 3 different well-known movies and 1 cartoon. Let’s have a look at them! (проигрывем все отрывки)

2^nd nomination The Best pronunciation(готовить проиграть Гарри Поттер 6С)

Kymbat: That was very interesting! I couldn’t even imagine these kinds of details about my favourite movies! I think, our students can’t wait our next award! Let’s not them make wait too long and announce our next award which is The Best English pronunciation!

I want to remind you that one of the aims of our competition was to improve your English pronunciation by “shadowing” and listening to native English speech. As we received several works with good pronunciation, we decided to reward one more student with excellent English pronunciation! To give this award let me give the floor to________________

Camera is the eyes of the spectator! I think there is no need to tell the importance and peculiarities of this hard work. Our students showed their best skills in this area too so now we want to announce our next award The Best camera work! To give this award let me give the floor to________________
