Lesson objectives

All learners will be able to: identify the first or high-frequency phonemes of the subject-related vocabulary, answer the questions based on the prompt, talk about their likes, based on the written prompts

Most learners will be able to: identify several phonemes of the subject-related vocabulary, answer the questions based on the prompt, talk about their likes based on the teacher’s oral presentation with some support

Some learners will be able to: identify the several phonemes of the subject-related vocabulary, ask and answer the questions based on the prompt, talk about their likes, classify food in groups based on the teacher’s oral presentation with little or no support

Success criteria

Learners have met this learning objective if they can:

- identify high-frequency phonemes

- say what kind of food he or she likes

- use structure What do you like…? and respond on a question;

- do most of tasks correctly.

Greet the learners.

  • "Hello!"/"Good morning!"/"Good afternoon!"

  • How are you?”

  • What day is it today?”

  • What is the weather like today?”

Checking of the home task. Learners match the pictures with the words and answer the questions. What do we do during Nauryz?

What do we do during New Year? What do we do during birthdays?

Learners are introduced the success criteria of the lesson through pictures, if necessary the teacher uses L1


Warm up

Teacher offers students to watch video in order to understand the theme of the lesson. (Food song)

Presentation and practice

1.After watching video students are offered to learn the new vocabulary applying PPT presentation along with the “Magic eyes” activity with flashcards


Learners are suggested to complete the Task 1

worksheet1 (listen, read, write missing phonemes and match)

Descriptors: 1. Read the word 2. Write a letter 3. Match the word to the picture


2. Learners listen to the song What do you like? and practice asking and answering the questions in a whole-class and individual drilling

Task 2 Learners ask and answer each other questions

Descriptors: 1. Listen to the teacher 2. Repeat in choral drilling 3. Ask the question 4. Answer the question

Teacher gives feedback for learners during each task by giving them stick for each correct answer. Also teacher gives oral feedback during the lesson. Learners reflect on their learning by counting their sticks

Learners also give feedback using Thumbs up activity



Homework: to learn the words, to complete the crossword and revise the questions and answers

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

For Task 1 differentiation is carried out by assigning more able students words with more missing phonemes

For Task 2 differentiation is carried out by giving oral support for less able students
