Ex:1 P:102 • Direct Ss' attention to the pictures on p. 102. Read out the example description of picture A. Give Ss time to describe the pictures to each other in pairs. Elicit answers from Ss around the class. Aim: describe pictures and predict people's feelings and consolidate new vocabulary by matching words to definitions. Efficiency: Ss refresh their mind before starting new theme. ``Baursak” method Ex: 2 P: 102 • Ss read the text again and answer the questions. Check Ss' answers around the class. Read the theory box aloud. Ss read the first sentence of each paragraph in the text. Elicit what the text is about from various Ss around the class. Aim: read for specific information (answer questions) “Letter’’ method Ex: 3 P: 102 • Listen to the recording and decide if the sentences are T or F Ss read the text again and answer the questions. Check Ss' answers around the class. Aim: to listen for specific information Grammar tasks Ex: 4 Answer the questions and choose the correct word. Conclusion during the lesson some tasks differentiated by outcomes of the students and by their abilities. |
• Learners look at the picture and answer the question. ANSWERS I think the man in picture B is feeling happy. He is laughing at something on his tablet. He is outside in the fresh air, sitting under a tree. He has taken his shoes off and rolled up his sleeves so he looks relaxed. He might be reading a funny post or email, or he might be talking to his friend on a video call. The man in picture C looks happy, too. He is smiling and eating food with his friends. He is enjoying their company and not worrying about his problems • Learners read the text again and answer the question. ANSWERS 1 Michael thought he was happy because he had a good job, his own apartment, an expensive car and he was wealthy. 2 He realised he needed to change his life when he forgot his niece's birthday. 3 Michael's boss was very surprised when he quit his job. 4 Michael decided to work in a National Park because he loved the outdoors. 5 Some common beliefs about successful people are that they have powerful jobs, lots of money and many possessions. 6 The writer seems to be in favour of downshifting.
