  • Greetings.

Greeting: Teacher greets learners; learners respond to greeting.

Lead in: Answer the questions:

  • What do you see on the picture?

  • Do you like these places?

  • Would you like to have a journey to these places?

  • What is the theme of our lesson?

Answer is – “Unusual and interesting places in Kazakhstan and around the world

Task 1.

Vocabulary. Teacher shows topical vocabulary. Asks students if they know their translation, if not explains meaning of words and phrases.

  • ride a camel (кататься на верблюде)

  • go on safari (отправляться на сафари)

  • swim with the dolphins (плавать с дельфинами)

  • fly in a hot-air balloon (летать на воздушном шаре)

  • try an extreme sport (заняться экстремальным спортом)

  • camp on a riverbank (разбить лагерь на берегу реки)

Task 2.


Teacher: “-If you want to go somewhere you can go there by a car, a train, an airplane, a coach, a helicopter, a ship, a ferry, a boat, or a hot air balloon. While travelling we often go sightseeing. What places do we visit?

Teacher elicits vocabulary: monuments, theatres, bridges, parks, statues, palaces, cathedrals and art galleries. What activities do we often do while travelling on holidays? We take photos, look around, buy souvenirs, do shopping, go sightseeing, lose the way, and spend money.

Teacher asks Ss to choose and imagine the place they travelled last time” after, invite students to play a game and explains its rule.

Teacher explains that the students should fill in the gaps with missed prepositions and put them correctly (with, on, of, about, by, of), if necessary, revise the translation of prepositions.

Text “The Caspian Sea”.

The Caspian Sea is the largest sea …. water …. Earth. The Caspian Sea washes the western part … KZ. Caspian Sea is not connected .... an ocean which makes it like a lake. The northern part of the sea is ….. 6 m deep. The northern part differentiates …. the sudden changeability of the air temperature and insufficiency.

After video watching. Teacher allows student to read these two texts.

Sharyn Canyon is the biggest canyon in the world. It is located 200 kilometres from the Tien Shan. Rare ash trees grow at the top of the valley. Thousands of years of strong winds formed the colour. The whole canyon has rocks that look like buildings. It is one of the most unusual places of our country.

Lake Kaindy

Lake Kaindy is located in Kazakhstan. The lake reaches depths of nearly 30 meters It is located 129 kilometers of the city of Almaty. Lake Kaindy is located in the south of Kazakhstan, within Kolsai Lakes National Park. This place is unique because of its birch trees growing above the lake. It is very breathtaking view.

Teacher asks some questions:

Where is Sharyn Canyon is situated?

How far is it situated from Tien Shan.

What formed the color of Sharyn Canyon?



-Where is the Lake Kaindy located?

-How deep is this lake?

-What is its distance from Almaty. How many kilometres far?

-Why is this place so unusual?
