Reading. Task 1. Read the text and explain them. Discuss the text with the group. Fashion Traditional clothing is still worn for holidays and on special occasions. Garments such as koylek or shapan with rich embroidery and jewellery, are a symbol of social status. However, in recent years, the country’s fashion world has undergone a revel, with its own Fashion Week and quite a crowd of talented young Kazakhstani designers emerging on the scene. Plain T-shirt and skinny jeans or light-colored chinos are vital clothing items for young Kazakh men and women but the country’s street style demonstrates a more refreshing approach, too. Outside of the shows of this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Almaty a wave of colorful suits, short-sleeve tops, and long shirt collars paired with shorter, ankle-length trousers dominated among men. Female fashion was taken over by thigh-length, richly ornamented tunics and longer kaftans accompanied by tight trousers or even flared jeans- for the more adventurous types! Looking at the runway and designer trends of the April's MBFWA, there is plenty of print and color on jackets and blazers, occasionally supplemented with shoulder pads. Short black and white socks paired with sandals or boots seem more popular than before. Judging by the popularity of 2016 MBFWA and by the head-turning street style, the Kazakhstani fashion scene is young, unique and diverse-definitely the one to watch! Descriptor: - explain the text - to share information about fashion Strategy “Craft activities” Task 2. The teacher gives each group magazines about fashion. They should write sentences, create and show their trend for the summer of 2018. Descriptor:
Speaking Task 3. Each group should comment on the work of the other groups Descriptor: - give comments to other groups - discuss comments from other groups |
