GREETING One of the learners starts the lesson with questions: What date is it today? What day is it today? What is the weather like today? What is the temperature? Teacher presents lesson objectives. |

Students could do exercises 2 and 3 as homework. It is important to make sure they have understood correctly, so provide answers and feedback in the next lesson. Test before you teach: Flipped classroom Set the Flipped classroom video and tasks for homework before the lesson. This will allow you to assess the needs of the students before the class. Students can then move on to the relevant grammar practice activities. Have something done 1a Students look at the sentences and decide who does the action – the subject at the start of the sentence or somebody/something else. Answer In all three sentences, somebody/something else does the action. 1b Students look at the sentences again and answer the questions.

Remind students to ask follow-up questions to find out more information. Draw students’ attention to the question words. 5b Students choose three interesting things they found out about their partner and report them back to the class. Gerunds and infinitives 6 Ask students to match the sentences (a–f) with the rules (1–6). They then choose the correct alternative in each rule. |
