T greets the students, checks their home tasks Starter: Write Ways people spend their leisure time on the board, and below add In Saudi Arabia some people watch camel racing. Put students into groups and tell them to choose one or two countries they know, and make a list of ways people enjoy their free time. When students are ready, tell them to report their ideas to the class. Vocabulary. Check the Key language. Write on the board any words not already covered that you think your students may not know. Give each group one or two words to look up in their dictionary. Then have students explain the meaning of their words to the class. Help with understanding and give further examples where necessary. Pre-listening. Teacher says that they are going to listen to details of how people in Japan like to spend their free time. Asks students what kind of free time activities they think are popular in Japan, and write their ideas on the board. While-listening. Play the recording. Post-listening Ask students the following questions:
Teacher gives out handouts. Students should write 10 popular activities in Japan. If necessary, plays the recording again. Survey Teacher explains how to create and do a survey. She/he hands out survey worksheets, where students make up their own questions. Then they should go around the class and do a survey. |
