translation “Naurys and Halloween
celebration”
Nauryz is warm spring holiday,
when night and day are identical. People celebrate this holiday at
their houses. During Nauryz Meiramy people clean houses, yards,
streets, plant trees, congratulate each other with New Year. If
people quarreled or offended each older last year they must
reconcile and forgive each other. The main traditional meal of the
holiday i.s. Nautyz Kozhe. It is made of 7 components: meat, water,
salt, airan, wheat, rice and onion. Nauryz Kozhe is cooked by a
family or a group of families or people of the whole aul, village,
settlement. All grown-ups and children must eat kozhe or at least
taste it. In fact this kind of kozhe is a wish, a hope for the New
Year to be success. This holiday is very popular like many other
holidays in spring you celebrate. This holiday wishes and
congratulations many people and say good words, good
wishes.
Halloween was first celebrated
many centuries ago in Ireland and Scotland by Celtic priests called
Druids. They observed the end of autumn and the beginning of
winter. The Druids thought that Halloween was the night when the
witches came out. As they were afraid of the witches they put on
different clothes and painted their faces to deceive the evil
spirit. They also placed food and small gifts near the doors of
their houses for the witches. This was, as they say now, the
beginning of the expression “trick or treat” (meaning “give me
something or I shall play a trick on you”)
