The importance of learning English

Today, English is one of the most common languages in international communication. It is used when drawing up important business contracts; Many books, newspapers, magazines are written on it; A large number of films have been shot.

Learning English is an important component of the educational process. Mastering the nuances of speaking English is subject to the principle of “lifelong learning.” This is the most important reason why you need to start mastering it, starting from school age.

Nowadays, many films, TV shows, books and music are published and produced in English. By understanding English, you won’t need to rely on translations and subtitles anymore. By accessing these media, you will also continuously improve your English listening and reading skills. According to Education First's (EF) annual report, Kazakhstan lags behind many countries in terms of English language proficiency. In 2020, it ranked 92nd in the English language proficiency index among 100 countries [EF, 2020]. The situation looks somewhat contradictory, since multilingual education is one of the priority areas of Kazakhstan’s educational policy. English is one of the compulsory subjects of the national curriculum in all schools in the country. There are several universities in Kazakhstan where the main language of instruction is English. Moreover, the trilingual model of education in Kazakh, Russian and English was included in the educational policy agenda in 2004-05 and has been a priority since then. For example, experiments in teaching in three languages ​​began in 2007 and were carried out in 33 schools in different parts of the country.

We interviewed residents of Almaty. We interviewed people of different ages. During the question and answer session, we found out that the vocabulary of teenagers 13-25 years old is quite high. And people aged 26-40 were shy and answered only simple questions. Among them were those who did not know English. During the exchange of views, it was noticed that many people are interested in English and want to learn it. He said he would take additional courses. English is the language of international communication.

We asked them to translate common English words. At that time he was able to translate a lot of words. In conclusion, We found out that there are no people who do not know English at all.
