Task . 1 Read the story one by one. There is some information about Kyz-Zhibek. Now who wants to read the information and translate. Kiz-zhibek The story of Kiz-Zhibek is one of the most famous in Kazakhstan. It comes from the 16th century. The story’s themes of conflict and tragic love are similar to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juilet. The story tells of Bazarbai, a rich but unhappy man. He had nine sons, but sadly they all died and Bazarbai felt lost. Then when he was already old, Bazarbai’s wife had ason. The couple called him Tulegen and a year or so later they had another son Sansizbay. Tulegen was handsome – he looked like a prince.He was also determined to do things his way.He heard of a girl called Kiz-Zhibek.People said she looked beautiful and she sounded nice. In fact, Tulegen thought she sounded like the girl he wanted to marry.Very quickly, he started thinking of ways to find her. The girl lived with her family , on the banks of the River Ak-Zhaiyk. It was a long way from Tulegen’s home, so his moyher was worried about his safety on the journey. She begged him not to go, but Tulegen didn’t listen to her and set off. Tulegen met Kiz-Zhibek and she fell in love with him. For a while their lives were good, but their happiness didn’t last. Tulegen had competition. Another man Bekezhan, was also in love with Kiz-Zhibek and he challenged Tulegen to a fight. When the two met , Bekejan killed Tulegen , but Bekejan didn’t win Kiz-Zhibek’s hand in marriage. She was heartbroken after Tulegen’s death and tragically killed herself. Task 2. Answer the questions. 1 Who are the main characters? 2. How many children did Bazarbai have? 3.
