Thematic lesson: Picnic Day in the Park

Organization moment

1.Greeting.

The teacher sets the lesson objectives, letting students know what to anticipate from the lesson.

2. Warm-up

Introduces the warm-up "Adjective Steps". Demonstrates how to form comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives. Places adjective cards on the floor.

Sets up 3–4 activity stations with different adjective tasks (positive, comparative, superlative). Explains the race rules and how students will move from station to station.Facilitates group work, monitors progress, and supports learners when needed.Checks answers at each station and allows groups to advance.

Example:Compare a squirrel and a rabbit.

Think what a Kazakh-style picnic would look like in the 1800s.What would people wear? What food would they bring? What would they do at the picnic?Use an AI tool (e.g., text-to-image generator like Bing Image Creator, DALL·E, or Midjourney) to create a picture of this old-style Kazakh picnic.Write 2–3 sentences to describe your image using adjectives and at least one comparative/superlative form.Example:
"In my AI picture, people are wearing beautiful traditional clothes. The shapan is more colorful than modern jackets. The picnic looks the most peaceful with dombra music and tea in the steppe."

Each student choose the character card (could be funny: a cowboy, an alien, a grandma, a superhero, a robot, etc.).Imagine what they bring to the picnic (real or funny!) and describe it using an adjective.Use a comparative or superlative to compare it to another item (or person).As a group, decide: Will this guest stay at the picnic or be kindly sent home? Example:
