Task 1 a)

To present vocabulary related to the physical structure of the human brain

Ask Ss to talk in pairs about the meanings of the words /phrases in the list.

Tell Ss to check the meanings of any they are unsure of in their dictionaries.

Check Ss' answers around the class.




Task 1 b) To predict the content of the text; to listen and read for gist

Explain that our brain is divided into two hemispheres (left, right) each one controlling different tasks/skills.

Play the video. Ss listen to find out information about hemispheres.

Elicit Ss' guesses in answer to the questions in the rubric.

Ask students to attach actions or words related to the left or right hemispheres to the board




Task 2 To read for specific information

Ask Ss to read the statements 1-8 and then give Ss time to read the text and mark the statements according to what they read.

Ss compare their answers with their partner.
