The
pupils talk about their native country using the

I want to tell you about my homeland. My
homeland is Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is an independent Republic. It
is situated in the Central Asia. Its population is 16 million. All
people of Kazakhstan have equal rights and duties. Astana is the
capital of Kazakhstan. The territory of Kazakhstan is huge. It
borders on China in the East and the Caspian Sea in the West,
Russian in the North and the states of Asia in the South. The
republic occupies the territory of more than 2 million square
kilometers. . Kazakhstan has 14 regions, 84
cities.
More than 17 million people of
over a hundred nationalities and ethnic groups live in the
republic. The head of Kazakhstan is a president, his name is
Nursultan Nazarbayev. Almaty is a former capital of Kazakhstan. In
1997, the president of sovereign Kazakhstan made a decision to
transfer the capital from Almaty to Akmola. In 1998 the government
of the country decided to change the name of the capital into
Astana, what means “capital” in Kazakh language. In Kazakhstan
people speak Russian or Kazakh languages. Kazakhstan has hundreds
of nationalities that’s why all people speak their native
language.

VI. We
know the English word motherland. For people it has two meanings.
Firstly, it is the place you were born in. Then it means the whole
country where you live. For me my motherland begins in my own
village, in which I have grown up. May be this place is usual and
uninteresting for other people, but for you it is the dearest place
in the world. Remember please, what proverbs about the homeplace do
you know?
