Watching the video the learners are asked to predict the topic of the lesson.

Teacher introduces the lesson objectives.

Teacher divide into two groups by with marks regular and irregular verbs.

Short answers : Yes, I/ you/ he/ she etc. did.

No, I/you/he/she etc. didn’t

Task 2. Learners should using baloon with irregular verbs and should match the verbs.

Task 3. Read the biography and put the verbs into the past simple. Which are irregular?


J.R.R. Tolkien 1. was born in South Africa but he went to school in Birmingham, England. Tolkien loved languages as a child. In his lifetime , Tolkien created 15 new fantasy languages! Tolkien fought in World War I. In 1916 , he had married Editt Bratt and they had four children. In 1925, he became a proffessor at Oxford University . Tolkien began writing The Hobbit in 1936. It made Tolkien very famous. Later, he wrote The Lord of the Rings. It took him about ten years to write this book. Tolkien died on 2nd September,1973.

Relax time . ‘’Who has it ?’’ one learner should stands with his back to the class. One learner pronounce one word about irregular verbs and learner who stand on the blackboard should identify who say this word.

Less able students are given a word bank or let them use a picture dictionary.

  • More support can be given at the start and in middle of lesson by providing less-able learners with story vocabulary in a word list so they can read examples of words seen or heard.
