Beginning the lesson

T writes a snake of words on the blackboard and gives pupils instructions to find the words, circle them, read them aloud and translate them. After that, he asks the pupils what the lesson topic and goals will be.

Students circle the words on the blackboard, read, translate, and guess what the topic of the lesson will be and what the whole lesson will be about.

Ex. 1 p 29 Activity 1 (Individual/Pair work): Teacher displays the textbook page on the whiteboard. Asks pupils to match the words from the vocabulary list (1-12) with the pictures (1-12). Checks answers as a class.

Answers: 1d, 2a, 3g, 4c, 5i, 6h, 7e, 8b, 9f, 10l, 11j, 12k

Pupils individually match the words with the pictures, then check their answers with a partner. Pupils respond to teacher's questions.

Activity 2 (Group work): Teacher asks pupils to look at the headings: water, air, land. Gives each team a poster and markers. Each team has to write as many sports as possible from the list under the correct heading.

Ending the lesson

Activity 4 (Individual work): Teacher gives pupils an exit ticket. They must write 2-3 sentences about their favorite sport, explaining why they like it using adjectives from the lesson. Teacher collects the exit tickets to assess understanding.

Pupils complete the exit ticket individually. They write a short text about their sport preferences.
