Warm up

Learners list types of genres and share with their favourite books and authors.

Teacher asks to discuss the following questions and share with their opinion:

• Do you like reading?

• What kind of books do you like?

• Have you ever heard about Guinness Book?

• Have you ever read interesting facts from Guinnes Book of World Records?

Tell them the objectives of the lesson and what they are going to speak about, then give KWL organizer, where students should fill the first 2 column.

PRE-READING TASK:

1. Teacher encourages learners to discuss their reading:

2. What do you particularly like about the content or the style of writing?

3. Do you have a favourite character and why?

Why do you enjoy reading about (computers, dinosaurs, birds, trains etc)?

Teacher introduces learners with the new words. They read the words and definitions. After learners have to make up their own sentences(5 sentence at least).

Activity: Learners must create situations or dialogs by using these active words. They should connect them with real life. In pairs they speak out their dialogs.

WHILE READING TASK:

Learners are divided into 3 groups(by coloured cards). Each group will read their own text, which are given by teacher. Then tell the content of theirpassage to the other groups. Then the learners share their opinions about the Guinness Book in general.

Watching a video

Teacher shows a video about Guinness Book …

Then all together analyse this video, teacher asks some questions, pupils answer:

1. What the video is about?

2. Why these activities are weird?

3. Have you ever seen such kind of strange people?

Learners are given time at the end of the lesson to reflect on their bookroom sheets, each learner makes up and asks critical thinking questions to his group mates. Such as:

1. Why Guinness Book of Records so popular?

2. Why people all over the world try their names to be in this book?
