RESEARCH PROJECTS AND ₸34 BILLION IN FUNDING —

KAZNU’S EXPANDING SCIENTIFIC POTENTIAL

In the 2024–2025 academic year, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University reached a new milestone in research development. University scientists are currently imple

menting over 400 research projects, with total funding exceeding ₸34 billion — one of the largest scientific investments in Kazakhstan (https://farabi.university) .

These projects span a wide range of fields: advanced manufacturing, digital and space technologies, energy, smart materials and transport, and sustainable de

velopment in the agro-industrial sector. The research is not limited to theoretical studies but is grounded in practical solutions and technological innovation.

The Preparatory Department is actively engaging students with scientific interests, encouraging them to participate in research projects. The department orga

nizes seminars and training sessions to enhance research literacy and introduce students to scientific thinking and methodology — laying the foundation for future

researchers. Faculty members also lead their own research initiatives and have achieved notable success.

KazNU hosts active scientific clubs and startup incubators for students. These platforms allow students to present their projects and participate in international

conferences. Several startup groups have been established to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking within the university.

Some of these startup clubs are led by instructors from the Preparatory Department. They help students transform ideas into structured projects and engage

with the university’s academic environment from an early stage. This initiative expands the department’s educational mission beyond academics into creativity and

entrepreneurship.

Such efforts contribute significantly to strengthening KazNU’s status as a research university.
