Внеклассное мероприятие Brain Ring (Брэйн Ринг)

по теме: «Are you good at English?»

Данное мероприятие проводится в рамках недели иностранного языка. На его проведение отводится 1 час.

Цель мероприятия: совершенствовать и систематизировать знания студентов об английском языке и англо-говорящих странах, привитие интереса к предмету.

Оборудование: ZOOM платформа

Ход мероприятия

I. Организационный момент.

На первом этапе продумывается структура мероприятия: этапы
(раунды игры «Брэйн-ринг») и очередность их проведения. Задания не предусматривают предварительной подготовки, а рассчитаны на тот минимум знаний, имеющихся у учащихся на данный этап обучения иностранному языку.

II. Постановка цели

Учитель (ведущий): Good afternoon, dear friends, it’s a great pleasure to welcome you here. We’ve gathered here today to revise our knowledge about the English language and English-speaking countries. We’ll play a game “Brain Ring”. It is no accident that we called it like that. You’re welcome, our supporters!!! Well, we’ll start the game! Here are 5 rounds for you now.

The 1-st Round/ Задание на 1 раунд: ответьте на следующие вопросы // answer the following questions

What British Holidays Do You Know? (Christmas, Halloween, St.Valentine’s Day, Easter, April Fool’s Day, May Day)

1. This country is one of the largest in the world. It is washed by the Atlantic ocean in the East and by the Pacific ocean in the west. What is it? (The USA)

2. It is a country which looks like an island. It is not very big, but beautiful. It is a country of fog and rain. There are a lot of places of interest. (Great Britain)

3. This country occupies a whole continent. It has strange animals and plants and unique nature. It’s very far from our country. (Australia)

The 2-nd Round/ Задание на 2 раунд: give the equivalents of the following proverbs in your language.

The devil is not so black as he is painted. (Не так страшен черт, как его малюют)

1. Misfortunes never come alone. (Пришла беда – отворяй ворота)

2. There is no smoke without fire. (Дыма без огня не бывает)

3. Better to see than to hear. (Лучше 1 раз увидеть, чем 100 раз услышать)

The 3-d Round/ Задание на 3 раунд: write 5 international words of English or American origin (f.e. football, basketball, disco, park, club etc.).

Учитель (ведущий): So, the third round is over now. Now we’re going to the next one…The fourth round!

The 4-th Round/ Задание на 4 раунд: our next round is called “Jumbled words”. All the letters are jumbled on these sheets of paper. The task is to make up true words upon our Brain Ring topic.

The 5-th Round/ Задание на 5 раунд: Culture Vultures. Internationally, these are some of the most British and American cultural “icons”. Can you make UK-US pairs?
