I. Greeting Hello, boys and girls! I am glad to see you. How are you? I hope you are fine! Look at this picture, please. I think you know this place? Yes, you are right. It is Burabai National Park. The theme of our lesson is The Pearl of Kazakhstan . You know that cultures across the world have their own myth. These stories are about beliefs, historical events, mythical creatures or the world around us. In Kazakhstan, in the steppe that covers most of the country, there is the beautiful and green Burabai National Park. People have their own story about how this park came to be. In this lesson, you will learn this myth story told us by the Kazakh myth character Aldar-Kosse. Have you ever heard about Aldar-Kosse? Yes, he is a character of funny and mysterious folk stories. |

III. And now we are going to watch the video The Pearl of Kazakhstan. Watch and listen attentively please because after watching you will answer the questions according to the text. Questions and answers: 1. Why were the Kazakh people sad? - The Creator left them only with huge steppe and there werent any mountains and forests with wild animals, any lakes and rivers with fish there. 2. Why did Aldar Kosse decide to help the Kazakh people ? - He didnt like to see the Kazakh people so miserable. 3. What did Aidar-Kosse ask the Creator to give the Kazakh people? - He asked to give some mountains. 4. Where did the Creator keep all the treasures? - The Creator kept all the treasures in a sack. 5. How did Aldar Kosse get the treasures out? - Aldar Kosse crept up to the sack and made a hole in it. Mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, fish and wild animals fell out and landed right in the middle of the empty steppe. IV. Lets move on. Its time to read. The text is divided into three parts. Each part has its own task. Part1. Read the first part of the text and match the words in bold to their synonyms. (unhappy, pure, tragic, daring, enormous). The answers: The Creator made the world up and he gave high mountains, pure lakes and green forests to all the countries. Bit for some reasons he forgot about the Kazakh people. He left them with only enormous steppe that stretched across the country. It was beautiful, but the people were tragic. Where were their mountains, forests and lakes with wild animals and fish? Aldar Kosse the daring man didnt like to see the Kazakh people so unhappy and decided to go and see the Creator himself. Evaluation. V. Lets go on and read the second part of the text. You should read and complete the graphic organizer with the appropriate word. The answers: The Creator - wise The Kazakh people good Aldar-Kosse - cheeky The steppe – empty Watched - crefully Keeps - treasures Evaluation. VI. Lets pass to the last part we are going to read. Here you should complete the sentences using regular and irregular forms of Past Simple Tense. Use fell, landed, made, crept, were. The answers:
