How globalization has changed your country?

Sometimes it can seem that people, their behavior or style gradually are getting similar. However it is happening because of the global integration we also call this process globalization. Let me start this essay from the meaning of this word. Globalization is process of integration of different sphere of activities. For example in fashion, show business, education and other. In this essay I will discuss language globalization in my motherland, Kazakhstan.

Globalization in Kazakhstan related to its history. Through many years a lot of things have changed and some things stay unchangeable. But the main question, to my opinion, has to do with languages. Of course the main and official language is Kazakh, but what’s the language situation in Kazakhstan at the moment? It is little known by people that in Kazakhstan people can speak fluently in two languages, it is because of USSR, a long time ago Kazakhstan was a part of USSR where main language was Russian, regardless that Kazakhs did not forget their language but on the contrary tried to keep their mother tongue and teach next generation. As the result we speak both of them. Many years have passed, but still there are advertisements, education, songs and films in Russian language and they are quite popular. Especially kids love watching cartoons and entertainment programs that is why knowledge of that language still remains. But anyway I reckon that there are no drawbacks of knowing another language. On the other hand it helps to understand and communicate with people from former USSR countries, which number is 15.

The other developing language is English. Government is tending to develop program of trilingualism. To achieve that kids learn English language since Elementary school or kindergarten. Since 2011 the realization of languages development started. The first president considered that if people know as many languages as possible they can be much competitive. I could not agree more with this expression because to know several languages not only make you stronger than others but also it is good for your memory and of course it widens your mindset. In Kazakhstan more people tend to know English because they how English literally opens door and gives many opportunities.

Overall, Kazakhstan tends to be modern country with young people knowing at least three languages. And I totally support this program, because I see only benefits when people speak many languages. It can be proven by some developed countries such as Canada, Belgium, German and so on.
