The scenario of an extracurricular English language activity in the 7th grade

«We like to learn English!»

 Objectives:

• To improve students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

• To encourage teamwork and cooperation in learning English.

• To make learning English fun through competition.

Educational tasks:

1. Develop the ability to work in a team and make a joint decision;

2. To develop positive personal qualities (responsibility, benevolence, a sense of mutual assistance).

3. To develop and train attention, memory, thinking.

Materials:

• Flashcards

• Projector (optional)

• Whiteboard and markers

• Timer or stopwatch

• Certificates for winners

• Word puzzles, worksheets, or riddles

This event is a team competition. A team consisting of 6-8 people is represented from each 7th grade. Each team sits at its own table.

Sheets with the names of contests are placed on the board using magnets, and the number of points awarded for this competition is indicated on the back of the sheets. The jury summarizes the results after each competition and records the results on the board.

The course of the event.

I. Introduction. The moderator informs the rules of the game, introduces the jury, conducts a conversation in English to establish the order of the teams.

II. The main part. Contests.

III. The result of the game. Awarding of the winning teams.

1. Warm- up

Наш урок начинается с разминки. Ученики поют эту песню и показывают, что они готовы к соревнованиям.

Contest 1.

«Introduction»

The first task is to introduce your team.

Tell us your

• age

• favorite school subjects

• hobbies

Представить команду должен 1 человек. Это либо капитан, либо любой из членов команды. Максимальный балл за «Introduction» - 5б. Время на подготовку – 2 минуты

Angel and his family decided to travel to different countries for their vacation. They wanted to play their favorite sport at each country they'll go to. While on the plane, his father is listening to music. His brother is reading a book. His (older) sister is watching a movie on her laptop. His mother is sleeping. While Angel is busy looking outside the airplane's window and appreciating the beautiful clouds. Their first stop is New York. His dad is a fan of baseball. So they get their gloves and bat and played at one of the fields there. They flew into Hawaii. His mother was a surfing superstar when she was in her teenage years. They went straight to the nearest beach and prepared their swimming attires and of course their surfboards. They enjoyed the strong waves and the beautiful scenic view

Студенты читают текст. После прочтения текста на доске задаются вопросы, соответствующие тексту. Быстрый ответ 2 балла за вопрос.

Contest 6

Каждой команде выдаются карточки с английскими пословицами. Задача команд подобрать русские эквиваленты. На подготовку дается 3 минуты. Максимум – 5 баллов

Contest 7

Здесь зашифровано название страны, где британские школьники любят проводить свои каникулы.

Каждой команде выдается карточка с заданием. На выполнение задания дается 3 минуты. Максимальное количество баллов – 4 (1 балл – за скорость, 3 балла – за верный ответ)

Assessment:

• Students’ performance will be evaluated based on their participation in the activities.

• Points will be awarded for teamwork, effort, and correct use of English during the competitions.

Wrap-up and Award Ceremony (10 minutes)

• Announce the winners from each competition and distribute certificates or small prizes.

• Encourage students to reflect on what they enjoyed and learned during the activities.
